The low price for conventional coffee is merely based on global commodity exchanges. For the coffee farmers in the countries of origin, this income is not enough to feed their families. Social and environmental costs are not taken into account, even though they are many times higher than the market price. The cost of this supposedly favorable coffee price is paid by our environment and, above all, by the people of the global South, where the coffee is grown.
